Off to the Overlanders Meet

With a stop in Bruge

So, after a bit of breakfast, and a call from Robert to ensure we were up (we were!!) we headed off to Bruge. We intially parked up in the outskirts in the Sint Andries area, and had a bit of a wander round. Found a statue of Paul someone, who looked totally chuffed about being covered in bird poo:

then we found a rather large church (this will become something of a theme!) that appeared to have its own Crematorium attached behind.

We're off!

We're off!

So, leaving day has finally arrived! We are off to Europe tonight!! Ferry has been booked a while, the dog-sitter and cat-sitter is in place, and the children are sorted. Signed out of the work pc with an out-of-office message saying back in October....boy that felt good!

Got all the important stuff - passports, tickets, flourescent jackets, spare bulbs, warning triangle - and the nearly as important stuff - salt and vinegar crisps, pork pies and other little bits of Britishness for our European friends. Netbook loaded with the map and satnav, and a couple of DVD's for entertainment in the carpark at the dock.

Left a little early, in the hope that we would be able to get on an earlier ferry - Success!! we left at 6pm rather than 8pm. The two hour crossing plus the +1 hour difference meant we hit the carpark at 9pm after a smooth sailing. Bed down, curtains drawn, conviences visited...and we bunked down for the night. Looking at an early start to get to the weekend campsite.

Just so you know, you can stay, free of charge, for upto 14 days at the ferry port (though why you would want to I have no idea.....)
